Local Venue Shines Spotlight on Young Musicians

April 2017

Did you know that local musical acts Ya Ya Boom Project, Lost Lingo and the Squash Blossom Boys all got their start performing at the Roust the House: Teen Performance Nights at the Outpost Performance Space?

Roust the House is a unique monthly event where local musically-inclined teenagers can showcase their creativity in a variety of genres — from punk rock and classical piano to hip-hop and spoken word, and more. As many as seven soloists and bands can be scheduled to perform during the Roust the House events.

Roust the House has been a mainstay at the Outpost Performance Space since the venue opened in 1988.

Roust the House and other programs for youth that are put on by the Outpost Performance Space are supported in part by a grant from the city of Albuquerque’s Urban Enhancement Trust Fund.

The next Roust the House event takes place at 7:30 p.m. on April 28. Admission is $3.

Bands or soloists interested in performing during Roust the House are encouraged to contact the Outpost Performance Space as well as submit a demo and brief bio for consideration.

Outpost Performance Space is located at 210 Yale Blvd. SE. For more information, call 268-0044 or visit
